Books

Here you’ll find a list of all the books I’ve published so far and the ones I’m working on. These will include works of both fiction and non-fiction.  Where fiction is concerned, my interest is primarily the fantasy genre.  Concerning books in the non-fiction category, I’ve published a Kindle eBook intended for illustrators, game masters, and other authors, all of whom I hope will benefit from it.

For those interested in writing fantasy stories, I’ve put together some resources I hope will prove useful.  You can find these resources on my Fantasy Writing page.  At the time of writing this, I’ve written an article on inventing character names, as well as a book on how you can make a fantasy map.

Fiction Books

The Faeringmen

The short story The Faeringmen is my first published work of fantasy fiction.  In case you’re wondering, it’s pronounced /ˈfæɾɪŋmɛn/.  A faering is a type of boat found in Scandinavia.

The king’s health dwindles, and his eldest son and heir Dagda is poised to inherit the throne. But Dagda, believing his younger brother Ardal will make a better ruler, decides he must take drastic measures for the good of the realm. To this end, the prince seeks out a being with the power to alter the kingdom’s succession: one of the mysterious Faeringmen.

I hope you enjoy The Faeringmen for however long it takes you to read its fifteen pages.  I know I greatly enjoyed writing it.

I freely admit that, before editing, my short story wasn’t nearly as good as it is now, however good that might be.  I also made the cover and illustrations myself, all from scratch.  I worked long and hard on The Faeringmen, and I’m proud of the results.

If you’re interested in how to pronounce some of the names in the story, check out the pronunciation guide.  It makes use of the International Phonetic Alphabet, so it should be relatively unambiguous.

How to Make a Fantasy Map

I’ve written a book on how you can make a map for your fantasy books or role-playing games.  In this book I go into detail about building a map from scratch in Inkscape, with chapters ranging from drawing continents to making icons to represent your towns and cities.  With Inkscape—a free and open source software—in your hands, making a beautiful fantasy map is easier than ever!

Making a fantasy map can be a daunting task, but I hope my book will make it less so.  Using the techniques in my book, you’ll be able to create a map that you can export at any size you want without loss of quality.  You’ll also be able to edit it with ease if you realize you’ve done something wrong.

You’ll also be able to download a set of free vector icons, which you can use for any map. These include icons for trees, mountains, castles, and many more!
